Son format musical est principalement orienté électro dance.
Créée en 1985, Fun Radio connaît un certain succès au début des années 1990 avec les matinales d’Arthur ou encore l'émission Lovin' Fun animée par Doc et Difool. Dans les années 2000, la radio est rattachée au groupe RTL et recentre son positionnement musical, ciblant une audience jeune tout en proposant des émissions comme Planet Arthur, Eric et Ramzy Show, Morning de Cauet ou Manu à la radio !. Depuis le 1er octobre 2017, Fun Radio est une filiale du groupe allemand RTL Group, faisant partie du groupe M6.
