Radio Baccara Rijswijk - Den Haag

We could write a book about the origins of Radio Baccara. But we will keep it short: two radio rebels from Rijswijk wanted to put a radio station with an innovative sound on the airwaves. In the early 90s, local radio was very monotonous: an hour of Dutch-language or classical music, and that was about it. The two rebels started broadcasting with a small FM transmitter. Later, more and more power was added, allowing Radio Baccara to be heard not only in Rijswijk but throughout South Holland. The innovative, vibrant sound caught the listeners' attention. Unfortunately, the loud radio signal also caught the attention of the radio watchdog AT/Radio Controle Dienst. After a number of seizures and the defrauding of sponsors, the end of Radio Baccara was announced. After one last major broadcast at full power, the transmitter was handed over to the local office. This was the end of Radio Baccara Rijswijk on FM.
